GAIA – A pioneering mass-engineered timber academic building in Asia.
NTU’s Academic Building South, “Gaia”, features two elegantly curving blocks that house a 190-seat auditorium, 12 lecture theatres, seminar rooms, laboratories, offices, classrooms, and meeting spaces. Constructed predominantly from prefabricated mass timber elements—with concrete used only for the toilets, ground-floor slabs, and external staircases—Gaia is a landmark in sustainable architecture and is among the largest timber buildings in Asia by volume of timber used.
